a sum up of my first week in Shanghai!

Hi readers! sorry about not uploading new materials on the blog
jessica and I are now both in Shanghai so it is very difficult for us to go on blogspot...
so we are kind of using illegal app just to update new stuff on the blog :(
after the first week of Shanghai, I have been eating and meeting up with my high school friends the whole week that I feel like I am gaining a lot of weight...
but I have to be honest, Shanghai has the best food ever!!!!
I really miss the food in Shanghai because they match my taste more since I have been living in China for more than 10 years...
but i do miss new york too because new york has everything hehe..except my lovely parents!!!
above is my first day outfit in Shanghai with my spiky red heels :)

the second day I went along with my friends Jessica H. (in the picture above) and Lily Ma to the Bund to the most expensive restaurant in Shanghai called The House of Roosevelt.! I heard that it is opened by President Roosevelt! shocking! and I think it is very expensive because of its perfect view of Pudong and the pearl tower (??is that how you say it?) It was a really nice day and the afternoon tea only costs us RMB 100 each that includes the set above :) (RMB 100 is about $15 +tips!)

next we went to a japanese restaurant that we used to go all the time because it has very traditional japanese bbq! this is the beef tongue and it is so yummy!

In china we are already legal to drink!! TGIF!!!!
+Shanghai Brewery with their self-brewed beer and my apple mojito :)

weekend I went out again with my parents to enjoy our afternoon tea at downtown shanghai :)

Finally...because I still havnt heard from my internship result so I am super bored everyday at home that I dont know what I should do.
So I MADE CHEESECAKE BROWNIE!!
yumyumyum it turns out to be perfect with a little muddy taste in the middle and the cheesecake is very creamy :)
lolz i bet all those pictures are making everyone hungry and this cheesecake brownie recipe is super easy. I ll post it in the future so everyone can make it at their lovely home :)

see you soon <3

EDC NY 2013

After a long time of waiting here finally came the Electric Daisy Carnival!!!!!! Me and jennifer are so ready for this rave. We decided to wear something cute and special to celebrate our first “liberation" from tons of school works.
We bought the GA two days pass for around 250 dollars. It is a bit pricy but i believe the experience totally worth the price.
Talk about outfit, we decided to wear neon tutu and crop top. I know it is cliche but we were so excited to wear those cute ass tutus :@
purple and turquoise tutu
For the tops, i made two of the bra top with petals. The petals have the matching color with our tutus:)

For people who wants to go to edc next year, I recommend you guys make sure you eat before you go there. The food and beverage inside are expensive. We bought one bottle of blue moon for 9 dollars.
CHUGCHUGCHUGCHUGCHUG!
We had a great time there, not only the music was good but the whole atmosphere was lively. All the people there were so friendly and welcoming. Lets get our youth popping!!! Perfect ending for our freshmen year!

The Great Gatsby Themed Dinner Party -- Dinner

Now here is our part 2 about the Great Gatsby themed dinner party
and I am going to talk about this fantastic restaurant located right next to the Chelsea Market and the outside looks really mysterious haha

The restaurant is called Buddakan and it is an Asian fusion restaurant!
the address is 75 9th Ave
an overall view of the restaurant! so glamorous!!

starting from the appetizer, it is a dish of vegetarian dumplings mixed with cheese inside

and two other appetizers :) (I went with 10 other friends so we order the tasting menu of $88/person)

The main courses first come with rice and noodles. The restaurant I believe is famous about their seafood so they almost put every seafood in their dishes. And they add very interesting contrasting flavor in their 'chinese' dishes to make it not so chinese after all

because it was my friend's birthday, so the chef made special dessert for the bday girl.

looks yummyyy and this place is very suitable for dates!!
sorry if the pictures are too blurry because the lights were really dim so I have to adjust the brightness...
xoxo
next post will be about this weekend EDC New York!! cant wait :)

The Great Gatsby Themed Dinner Party -- outfit

It's finally the GATSBY themed dinner party!
I have been really looking forward to it even though I was so nervous about my outfit being not very gatsby.....
well it turns out i did pretty well i guess ;)
So I have decided to do two individual blogs about the dinner party, one is about our outfits and another one is about the food because the place buddakan is very fancy and the food are delicious!

Here is my outfit for the dinner party! It is still very chilly here in nyc so i have to borrow a jacket from my dear roommate to match my outfit and I brought a feather purse to fancy it up! hope my dress is glittery enough...lol

a very close- up shot of my weird face hahaha showing my earrings because my boyfriend bought it for me and i've never had any chance to wear it until this party! thanks BF :D

a picture with the bday girl who looks just like the party girl from the movie!! love her feather bottom dress, so classy and pretty :)

another shot of the birthday girl

took a picture with my polaroid and add a vintage effect to make if more 1920s hahaha
I tried my best doing a finger wave hairstyle but it was so hard to do it all by myself!
tomorrow I will post more pictures about the food !!!

Spot Dessert Bar

Hi This is Jennifer and it is finally Final week for me!!
Omg hell week haha
I have been busy moving into my new apartment in New York during the weekend that I dont have time for anything else and I am not even kidding...
Moving is such a tiring thing when you dont have a car in new york...
So yesterday night I finally have time to slow down for a bit and have a chill weekend night before my final week.
And Jessica is busy preparing our outfits for EDC (Electrical Daisy Carnival)!
we are super excited for it!
So yesterday night I went to a very famous and delicious dessert bar on St. Marks Pl with my future apartment/high school friend Lily.
It also has another dessert bar located in Korean Town because it is too popular so the owner opened another one hoho!
I wish one day I can have the opportunity to open a popular restaurant :)
Spot Dessert Bar - address: 13 St Marks Pl (underground)
The price of the dessert is around $8 each, and for the deliciousness of it I would say it is totally worth it!!

Here is their No.1 Dessert that everyone should try if they have not visited the restaurant before.
it is a chocolate Lava cake with Green Tea and Green tea ice cream on the side
Compared to the other lava cake, this cake is so different when they have actual matcha liquid coming out with the chocolate when you eat it. and it is SO good when they are mixed together
nomnomnomnom <3

The second dessert that we ordered is the Golden Toast with icecream strawberry and cream
it is very sweet with all the honey on top of the toast, but they cooked it just about right that they cover is very crispy and the inside is super warm and soft full with honey taste :)

I also ordered a thai ice tea because its one of my favorite drinks hehe
it just have a very special taste in it and I tried to make it myself but I could never do it as good as the ones in the thai restaurants

Hope everyone has a good monday and hope I will pass all my finals...

FRIDAY NIGHT- SEAFOOD FEAST

It's FRIDAY NIGHT, instead of eating simple meal at home we choose to have a seafood feast. Its not a problem to find a seafood restaurant in NYC but finding a good one is always a hard task for us cos there are too many of them in this exciting city.
We heard that there is a good place we can have fresh lobster and other seafoods so we went there with no hesitation.
The place is inside the Chelsea Market called The Lobster Place.
It is not exactly a restaurant but more like a seafood market. You can find fish, oysters, crabs, and lobsters there. They have many types of chowders provided. And as my own opinion, they are all really good. There aren't many seats available so most of the people are just stand there eating beside a table.

We have three people so we ordered one small lobsters, one median lobsters, oysters, and two chowders.

(I can't remember how much exactly is the lobster but i think is around 18. ) I think this place definitely  worth a try. despite the inconvenience of no place to sit down, it's so easy to get to and not so expensive to have a seafood feast.

It is such a big satisfaction that we are soooo full.....and the end we decided to walk back.  On the way back we walked pass by the billy's bakery. I heard this is always a to go place for cupcake lover. It is a gay friendly shop with nice staffs:)
I always use red velvet cupcake to decide wether or not this shop worth to go for second time. Andddd it didn't disappointed me. A HUGE recommend:)

Alsooo... showing of my new collection from Rebecca Minkoff sample sale! you can carry it any side you want. It works both side!!!

The Great Gatsby

Hi! So the Great Gatsby starts showing this friday and I am super excited for it!
one of my friends birthday is coming up and she is doing a gatsby themed dinner party
so I figure that it would be really cool to write a blog about some important elements on the 20s fashion.

watching the preview of the great gatsby, i think the outfits of all the ladies in the film are so glamorous. everything, like dresses jewelries and hair accessories all have to be really bright and shiny.

so starting from the dress, I think it is very important to find a glittery dress with a lot of flow on the bottom!
such as this dress from Oscar de la Renta which is absolutely beautiful with the silver glitter and the flow of the fringes, and i think it would really match the gatsby theme.. but sadly i dont have any money to buy this hahaha

second, a shiny long jewelry necklace and bracelet is also very important
this one here is a perfect representation of the jewelry that i should be looking for because its a bracelet connected to the ring and the embellishment on is so 20s. VERY GATSBY :)

at the end, we cannot miss a head piece when back in the 20s almost every girl has something on their hat either a feather, a hat or some really fancy diamond head piece.
something like this should do the job :)
it would look fabulous with a finger wave hair style and a very chic clean makeup :)
a finger wave hair style looks something like this...

for the shoes, I would recommend everyone to get a pair of heeled sandals that are the same color tone as the dress in order to highlight the fabulousness of the dress haha

So thats some suggestions for the gatsby theme!
i will post my outfit for the gatsby dinner party after to show everyone what i wear but I am not the glitter type of person...so... wish me luck!! :)
